Level 22 (8,000/16,000/2,000)
Total BPPS Entrants: 272
Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 815,000
In close to an hour, ten players will return for the final table of the $100,000 GTD Borgata Poker Player’s Series final table and it couldn’t be a more diverse returning group if we tried. There are some seriously experienced professionals, players with multiple major tournament titles and countless career earnings to their credit. There are also up and comers, players still looking for that first breakthrough score, as well as some stone amateurs, looking to put their hands on their first ever Borgata Poker title.
Regardless of which of those archetypes ends up the victor here today, it should be an exciting day of poker, as a champion will be crowned and there is some serious prize money up for grabs. To prepare you for that journey towards a champion, we’ll run down the entire final table line up, introducing the first half of the field below:

- Eilyah Asur (Pittsburgh, PA) – 1,390,000 (86 bb)
- The Day 1B chip leader worked a roller coaster of a Day 2 session to make his first major tournament final table and according to the Hendon Mob, he’s already locked up his best career tournament score.
- After bottoming out and being stuck with one of the shorter stacks with two tables remaining, Asur will return for this final table with the second biggest stack.
- Jordan Allan (Glasgow, Scotland) – 242,000 (15 bb)
- The Borgata cash game regular flew under the radar for the majority of yesterday’s Day 2 session, hovering near the chip average for most of the day before taking a few hits late to bag up one of the shorter stacks. Allan will return with just 15 big blinds but we’ve seen short stacks turn it around a few times throughout this event so one double up should put him back into contention for this title.
- While he’s primarily a $2/$5 cash game player, Allan is looking to make his second straight cash in a Borgata Poker series, after recording a 39th place finish in the opening $500,000 GTD Summer Poker Open event. That was good for a $2,500 score and if he’s able to make a few pay jumps, he’ll better that result today.
- Daniel Sewnig (Yardville, NJ) – 197,000 (12 bb)
- The two shortest stacks at this final table are in close proximity, as Sewnig will return with just over ten big blinds and will likely need to spin it up and spin it up fast if he’s going to try to make a run at this title. Regardless, he’s making his first ever Borgata major final table, as the last time he finished 9th, he was part of a double knockout that sent him to the rail before the official final table came together.
- Sewnig, who recently graduated from Ramapo College and has been on a tear online since, has already locked up his first four-figure score since finishing college and will now look to run good through the early levels and attempt to make a run at his first major title.
- Sundiata DeVore (Brooklyn, NY) – 875,000 (54 bb)
- After a big stack and two short stacks, Sundiata DeVore returns right above the chip average, which is where he hovered for the majority of the later stages of Day 2. He, along with the other players near the chip average, will return in an interesting position, as this ‘championship-like’ structure leaves the average stack near the 50 big blind mark, something that is not the norm in the majority of major tournaments.
- Regardless of his stack size at the final table, DeVore has to be a threat, as he’s been on a tear this summer, notching multiple scores at regional events as well as a deep run in ‘The Colossus’ event at the WSOP. His best finish is his most recent, as he finished as the runner up in last month’s WFAN Summer Poker Open event for a $11,000 score.
- Abraham Korotki (Bethany Beach, DE) – 1,273,000 (80 bb)
- After returning from the dinner break with a ten big blind stack, Korotki turned it up, bossing the final level few levels of Day 2 to not only bag up one of the bigger stacks for this final table but also to put himself in a serious position to earn his seventh Borgata Poker title.
- With over $1,300,000 in career earnings, Korotki is easily the most experienced player at today’s final table. Delaware’s all-time money leader has multiple deep runs and cashes in some of the countries biggest events, including WPT World Championships, World Series of Poker events and WSOP Circuit events. If he’s able to pick up that late Day 2 run good at this final table, the rest of the field better watch out because Korotki will become a massive threat to add to his Borgata Poker legacy.
That’s the first half of the BPPS final table, with the second half previewed below:

- Joe ‘Worm’ Palma (Philadelphia, PA) – 724,000 (45 bb)
- While the two shortest stacks find themselves next to each other at the start of the table, the two of the most experienced players are next to each other towards the middle, as Palma and Korotki are easily the most decorated players at this final table. The two played at the same table yesterday and while they didn’t get involved in many big hands together, they’ll likely be forced to if they can get to short handed play today.
- Palma is the only player, other than Korotki, who has a Borgata Poker title to his name. Palma actually has two, from back-to-back wins during the 2013 Borgata Poker Open. He’ll look to add a third to his trophy case today, coming back just under the chip average.
- John Manzella (Midland Park, NJ) – 973,000 (60 bb)
- Late in Day 2, Manzella joked that he “doesn’t belong here” because he’s “not as good as the rest of this field”. That was after a few players said he had “nine lives” after surviving near certain elimination a few times, including once one the direct bubble. In tournament poker there are bound to be escapes from dire circumstances and while Manzella has had a few, he’s now in a position to notch his best career finish.
- He’ll return just under the 1,000,000 chip mark and has already locked up his first major tournament score since the 2014 Spring Poker Open ‘Seniors Event’.
- John Germano (Providence, RI) – 1,485,000 (92 bb)
- Ladies and gentleman, the BPPS final table chip leader, as John Germano returns with just under 1,500,000 after hovering near the top of the leaderboard throughout yesterday’s Day 2 session. While a majority of the big stacks fell, dropped and hit the rail, Germano remained a constant presence as a big stack.
- That’s not surprising though, as Germano is coming off two of his best career results, notching a 2nd place finish in a Foxwoods $100,000 GTD event in July and then notching a deep run in the recent WSOP Circuit Main Event at Foxwoods. Those two scores total just under $18,000 and he’ll look to add to that total with another deep run here today.
- John Heaney (Wenonah, NJ) – 247,000 (15 bb)
- After leading this field for the majority of the post-money bubble levels, John Heaney hit some road blocks before the end of the night, eventually bagging up just 15 big blinds. Despite his short stack, Heaney remains a serious threat to take down this title, as he’s the only player at this final table to take down one of poker’s biggest and most prestigious events.
- Heaney has just over $330,000 in career tournament earnings, with the better portion of that number coming from his 1994 World Series of Poker bracelet win in a $2,500 NLH event. Over a decade later, he’ll look to add another piece of hardware to his trophy case and will likely need a fast start and a quick double to do so.
- Justin Kadet (Woodmere, NY) – 652,000 (40 bb)
- Kadet was another quiet player through Day 2, staying out of big hands but always keeping himself near the chip average. He ended the night below that number but will still return with 40 big blinds, giving himself plenty of room to work at this final table.
- Over the last few years, Kadet has close to two dozen rated scores to his name, with the majority of those coming at regional casinos such as Foxwoods and Borgata. His best finish though, came this summer in the WSOP ‘The Colossus’ event where he made a $7,000 score.
That’s who’s going to be playing for this $100,000 GTD BPPS title and regardless of how the next few hours play out, we’re sure to see one of these ten players steal the headlines by day’s end. We’re not sure who that’s going to be, but the BPPS blog will be following all the action as soon as cards are get in the air at 12 PM.
Level 13 (1,000/2,000/300)
Total Day 1A Entries: 81
Players Remaining: 23
Chip Average: 105,000
Before we begin coverage of the Day 1B flight of the $100,000 GTD Borgata Poker Player’s Series, we wanted to highlight and update the survivors of yesterday’s Day 1A flight. In total, 23 players, from the original 81 entrants, bagged up chips for Tuesday’s Day 2 session.
Quintin Trammell will be the clubhouse leader heading into tomorrow, with Joe Lachiana being the only other player over the 200,000 chip mark. In total, nine players bagged over the century mark. Mickey Woll, Abraham Korotki and Tom Savitsky are included in that number and will not only be bringing a big stack to Day 2 but also loads of experience and past results making them all serious threats to take down this title.
Perhaps the most surprising member of the top half of the leaderboard is Alan Levin, who hovered near the starting stack for the better part of Day 1A before picking up pocket aces on back-to-back hands. He scored two doubles in quick succession and then managed to continue to chip up to finish just over the 140,000 mark.
That quick multiplication of chips should be encouraging for the players under the chip average, as they’ll all return tomorrow on either side of the 20 big blind mark.

The Borgata Poker Player’s Series is back and this time, it’s returned with a massive guaranteed prize pool to only increase the summer stakes here at the Borgata. When the BPPS made it’s debut to the Borgata tournament schedule in March, three events carrying $500, $1,000 and $1,500 buy-ins boasted ‘championship-like’ structures and were all well attended. The only thing that players thought was missing, a guaranteed prize pool.
When the people talk, the Borgata tournament staff listens and this time around, the BPPS will boast a massive $100,000 GTD prize pool. With two staring flights, and the addition of a unlimited re-entry structure, that prize pool will likely be crushed. Especially if the recent Summer Poker Open is any indication of just how strong the Borgata Poker community is, as every guarantee in that series was eclipsed with ease.
The BPPS blog will pick up the action as soon as cards get in the air for Day 1A, which should be within the next 15 minutes.
Level 14 (1,200/2,400/300)
Total Entries: 37
Players Remaining: 6
Chip Average: 190,000
From the start, this Borgata Poker Player’s Series 1500 event was always going to run with a little bit of a different schedule as compared to the two previous BPPS events. After the cancellation of Day 1A of the BPPS 1500, Day 1B saw just under 40 players play in the only starting flight and because of that small turnout, the tournament staff and remaining players late in Day 1B decided to play through the ten level cut off, electing to first get down to a Final Table and then after that occurred quicker than most expected, continued to play through Level 13.
As it would turn out, that would leave us with a “WPT-esq” six handed Final Table to return for the final day of the Borgata Poker Player’s Series but with one unfortunate difference, as one player will return and then leave empty handed as only five players will finish in the money in the BPPS 1500.
Just add that to the many storylines at this Final Table, one that boasts a wide variety of players and extremely deep stacks, starting with the deepest of those stacks, Joe Gola, who has been a dominant force since the second he sat down just before the late registration period closed.
If Gola is able to close out this BPPS title, he’d more or less be going wire to wire to score his first ever major tournament win, after coming close twice before, chopping a 2014 Parx Big Stax 300 event, officially taking 3rd and then notching a 4th place finish in the Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship in 2013.
The next player on the leaderboard is George St. Lawrence and while he may have started out slow, he’s been trending upwards since the midway point of Day 1B and will look to not only make the money in the BPPS 1500 but also win his second Borgata Poker trophy, after winning a Winter Poker Open Black Chip Bounty event in 2014.
There’s not much separating the top three stacks as Vince Ciarrocchi will also return with just over 200,000 chips but the one thing that does differ between these top three players is that while all have very good tournament resumes, Ciarrocchi is the only one with the majority of his tournament results from outside the Mid-Atlantic region.
While Gola and St. Lawrence’s results are primarily from local, regional casinos, Ciarrocchi’s are from across the country, with WSOP Circuit cashes from a handful of stops, including deep runs in Main Events at the Cherokee, Chester and Baltimore stops, with his biggest career score coming from Las Vegas, as he notched a $40,000 score in this summer’s WSOP Main Event.
Dennis Thurman also has a wide geographical reach in terms of his tournament results, with scores from coast to coast but some of his biggest results have come here in Atlantic City, including his lone major tournament title from the 2008 WPT Borgata Poker Open.
He returns just under the chip average, leading the second wave of players but there should be no cause for concern from any of our bottom three, as they all return extremely well stacked playing near or above the 40 big blind mark.
Alex Rocha is one of those below average deep stacked players and also might be the most recognizable name at this Final Table as he’s one of the areas best tournament players with just under $600,000 in career earnings with a Borgata Poker title and a WSOP Circuit Ring to his name.
But, it would be hard to find anyone with more close calls than Rocha, as he’s finished either 2nd or 3rd five times in his career, most recently in the last WPT Winter Poker Open and he’ll look to make good and win his first Borgata trophy since 2011.
While the shortest stack that returns for any Final Table is usually at or near the “danger zone”, that’s not the case for the Jeff Colpitts, who returns under the 100,000 chip mark but still in a position where he is just one double up away from completely swinging the dynamic of this BPPS 1500 event.
Colpitts might have one of the more interesting tournament resumes in this remaining field, as he only has five tournament results to his name, but two of those results are for pretty massive five figure scores and if he does manage to make the money today, he’ll move up and over the $100,000 career earnings mark.
He’ll have his work cut out for him, as this is a very strong, experienced Final Table that should provide plenty of interesting storylines and the BPPS blog will be there from the start at 12 PM and follow the action until a BPPS 1500 Champion is crowned.
Before we get into profiling the players in the Borgata Poker Player’s Series 1500 event, we want to highlight the winners from last week’s BPPS 1000, where James Petolicchio bested a stacked field and Final Table to claim his first ever major tournament victory and make a $40,000 pay day.
The Final Table that returned for Day 3 of the BPPS 1000 was one of the more exciting we’ve seen in recent Borgata memory, as there were an endless amount of storylines to follow, mainly Vinny Pahuja going back to back to make his second straight BPPS Final Table.
For all the “notable” players in the field and at the Final Table, it was eventually Petolicchio walking away with the title, turning it on mid-way through Day 3 and never looking back en route to the victory.
A complete recap of the BPPS 500 action can be found HERE.
The cards are about to be in the air for the second and final starting flight for the Borgata Poker Player’s Series 1500 after yesterday’s Day 1A was cancelled.
This event will see players start with 30,000 chips and play 10 50 minute levels through this Day 1B flight but depending on the turnout, we could potentially play down to completion or come back for a Final Table tomorrow, with that decision being made later in the day.
What we do know is that close to 25 players have already entered into this flight, meaning that this BPPS 1500 flight is a go.
Because this is a “double play” structure, re-entries are not allowed, so players looking to wait to get into the action need to keep an eye on the end of Level 6 when the late registration period will officially close.
Updates on the field size and players in this Day 1B field will begin as soon as the tournament tables begin to populate and after we update you on the stack sizes of the players that advanced through yesterday’s Day 1A flight.
Please be advised that Day 1A of the Borgata Poker Player’s Series 1500, scheduled for today, March 27th, has been cancelled.
We thank you for your interest in this event and we hope to see you tomorrow for Day 1B of the BPPS 1500, with cards going in the air and coverage beginning at 11 AM.
Level 21 (6,000/12,000/2,000)
Total Day 1B Entries: 141
Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 420,000
We’re not sure what it is about the Borgata Poker Player’s Series but in back-to-back weekends we’ve seen Final Tables return with almost an endless stream of storylines to follow making today’s BPPS 1000 Day 3 action all the more intriguing.
Despite an extremely long Final Table bubble, the returning ten players are all pretty well stacked, as even the shortest returning player, Chris Csik is coming back with 15 big blinds.
Csik certainly won’t feel uncomfortable in that spot as he was well below the chip average for almost the entirety of yesterday’s Day 2 and while he’s been hampered by a short stack, he’s still a serious threat to take down this BPPS title after coming off the biggest win of his tournament career earlier this month.
From the bottom of the leaderboard to the top, where Chris Kostoulas and James Petolicchio can hardly be separated and it should be interesting to follow their dynamic throughout Day 3, as they’ll be seated next to each other at this BPPS 1000 Final Table.
Both of our chip leaders have major tournament experience, as Kostoulas won the only other major tournament Final Table he’s ever made in October when he took down the Parx Big Stax VIII 300 event for $50,000 and Petolicchio ended 2014 with a WSOP Circuit Main Event Final Table appearance at Harrah’s, good for a $37,000 score.
But, if you want to talk experience with long run success, look no further than Paul Spitzberg and Vinny Pahuja, who make up the “second wave” of chip leaders as they have close to $2,500,000 in combined career earnings and four Borgata Poker titles among them.
Pahuja is also making his second consecutive BPPS Final Table after finishing 5th in last weekend’s BPPS 500 and while it was touch and go there for a moment if Pahuja was going to make a return trip to Day 3, as he saw his chip leading stack nearly go up in flames in the matter of an hour, he was able to regain his footing and bag up a top four stack to return to make another title push today.
Right at the chip average is the lone female remaining in this BPPS 1000, as Helen Ellis established herself as one of the big stacks early in Day 2 and used a “delicious” hand right before the dinner break to help solidify herself at the top of the leaderboard, before getting chipped down slightly on the Final Table bubble.
Helen has multiple deep runs on her tournament resume but she’ll look to continue her solid play at this Final Table and win her first Borgata Poker title along with the four remaining players as they’re all looking for their first “breakthrough” score as well.
Michael Bonita leads that charge as he’s right under the chip average but after one of the more up and down days in recent memory, Bonita will be happy to reset and attack this Final Table as he looks to improve upon his podium finish during the last Deep Stacks Challenge.
This is just Yao Wu‘s second Borgata Final Table appearance of his career and although he enters as a short stack, he shouldn’t be worried as Vinny Pahuja summed up the end of Wu’s Day 2 pretty well, saying, “He’s had ten big blinds for two hours and the only time I see him play a hand he’s doubling with ace king.”
He’s not wrong as Wu played a short stack to perfection on the Final Table bubble and manages to return with a workable 20 big blind stack.
It hasn’t been a bad return to tournament poker for Matt Gambino, who will be making his first Borgata score since 2013 at this BPPS Final Table and potentially the biggest score of his tournament career as he’s never cashed for more than $3,500.
While Bonita and Wu were involved in a lot of the bigger Final Table bubble hands as they had their short stacks all-in and at risk a few times, Gambino and Michael Matrone were more or less silent throughout that same period, staying clear of the big stacks long enough to make Day 3.
Matrone will enter this Final Table looking for redemption as he’s made seven Borgata Final Tables over the last few years but has yet to claim his first Borgata title. He’ll enter as one of the shortest stacks today, but could the Borgata Poker Player’s Series finally bring the breakthrough performance that he so desperately deserves?
Only time will tell but regardless of who ends up claiming the BPPS trophy today it’s expected to be an exciting day of poker with the BPPS blog picking up the action when play resumes at 12 PM.
Level 11 (600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1B Entries: 141
Players Remaining: 60
There are still a few hours before the remaining 60 players are going to converge on the Borgata Poker Room for Day 2 of the BPPS 1000 but we know that players like to see not only how they stack up to the rest of the field, but also how they stack up to their new tables.
Those table assignments can be found HERE and listed below are the complete Day 2 chip counts for all 60 players, with the majority of those at the top of the leaderboard coming from yesterday’s Day 1B session.

It should be noted that 18 players will finish in the money in the BPPS 1000 and that payout structure will be posted before Day 2 resumes, again at 12 PM.
Level 11 (600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1A Entries: 44
Players Remaining: 19
Chip Average: 58,000
Yesterday was probably as intimate a setting as you’ll ever see for a major tournament series at the Borgata with just 44 players entering into Day 1A of the BPPS 1000 and by day’s end, just 19 remained to move on to Sunday’s Day 2.
While the majority of the players were either side of the chip average, there was only one player that separated himself from the pack, as Tom Dobrilovic was the only player to break the 100,000 or 200,000 chip mark, finishing with a mind boggling 221,000.
The next closest player was James Lillis with 81,000, creating a very interesting dynamic for this Day 1B flight as players won’t necessarily feel like the need to “chase” Dobrilovic’s number as the rest of the field is more or less log jammed behind him.
It will also be interesting to see if anyone can break the century mark in today’s flight, something that should be helped with a bigger field and a significantly greater number of total chips in play.
Those counts will be tracked throughout the day but before we get into the Day 1B updates, let’s post the counts from the players advancing from Day 1A to give players and blog followers an idea about how the “clubhouse leaders” stack up.
